The Operator

PROBLEM:

The indie game developer, Bureau81 needed help launching their first game, an exciting X-Files-like narrative adventure - while an great premise it wasn’t being communicated with the tension and impact it needed.

SOLUTION:

We stepped in to help publish The Operator. After developing a creative strategy, USPs, and marketing ideas, I developed a stronger new branding for the game to help it stand-out on Steam, then wrote and edited an intriguing launch trailer, and created the Key Art and tone of voice for comms and Steam.

ROLE:

Creative Director, Writer, Designer, Motion Graphics, Editor

The LOGO

The logo needed to be impactful but I also wanted to communicate the breakdown of stability and layers of intrigue in the game.

The KEY ART

The Key Art needed to work at multiple sizes but also communicate your role as the player - where you sit at your FDI government agency computer and find evidence and files to solve crimes. The subtle reflection of the player in the screen helps to communicate this.

GLOBAL CONSPIRACY

The branding had to be able to work in different languages

HACKED STEAM PAGE

If you were to read the Steam page you’ll notice that HAL (The hacker in the game) has started to corrupt the language and imagery the further you go down.
